Esther Jennie Currado Dager, age 92. Cherished wife of Edward Dager for 68 years; beloved mother of Janet (John), Michael (Debra) and Beth (Magnus); loving grandmother of Rachel (Jon), Michael, Daniel, Mark, Anna, Jack, Charlotte and Elise; devoted great-grandmother of Avi and Grace. Passed away on October 17, 2021.

Esther’s greatest loves were her husband, children, grand- and great-grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who was sweet tempered with a generous heart and keen intellect. She had a passion for reading and language and could often be found whizzing through the New York Times crossword puzzle (she stopped doing the Washington Post puzzle because it was “too easy”) or answering the majority of Jeopardy questions at 7 pm on weekdays. Esther sang in the Rockville Community Chorus for over 20 years and had a great love of music which she passed on to her children. She completed a master’s degree at The Ohio State University and, after spending most of the 1960s and 70s raising her children, went on to develop a successful career managing social research studies at Westat in Rockville, Maryland. Esther was blessed to live a long, healthy life surrounded by family and loved ones. Though she will always be remembered fondly for her pleasant demeanor, amazing cooking, and intelligence, Esther’s family will never forget how she was always there as an unwavering support to each of her loved ones, and how she went through each day with a smile on her face.

A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, November 24th at 2:00 PM at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Rockville at 100 Welsh Park Drive, Rockville, MD. Due to Covid restrictions, a small reception will follow by invitation.
