Esther Markenson, the matriarch of the Markenson family, passed away on November 17th, 1997 at the ripe old age of 101. Born on February 12th, 1896 in Annandale, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Lauren and Joanne, and was the beloved wife of Albert Markenson, whom she married in 1913.
Esther and Albert were blessed with seven children, Lillian, Edward, Jack, Leonard, Carl, Franklin, and Ethel, who all went on to have families of their own. Esther was a proud grandmother of nine grandchildren, who will always remember her as a kind and loving grandmother who had a twinkle in her eye.
Esther attended Cathedral High School and graduated in 1914, before continuing her studies at the University. She then went on to work at St. Joseph's Hospital, where she made many lifelong friends who will dearly miss her.
Esther was a kind and generous soul, always willing to help those in need. She dedicated much of her life to the American Red Cross organization, where she was eventually awarded the Bronze Star for her outstanding achievements.
Esther lived a long and fulfilling life, and passed away peacefully of natural causes in her own home. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Rest in peace, Esther.
