Esther M. Correa Obituary

Apr 01, 1944 - Jun 02, 2024

This obituary is administered by:

Esther Maria Correa, a loving, dedicated, and generous woman, born April 1, 1944, in Manatí, Puerto Rico, passed away on June 2, 2024. Known to many as Maria, and to those especially close as Mom or Mai, she was a beacon of warmth and love within her family and community. Esther's life was not defined by where she lived, from her birthplace in Manatí to her adult life in Springfield, Massachusetts, but by the relationships she fostered and the lives she touched. Albert Schweitzer once said, "The purpose of human life is to serve, and to show compassion and the will to help others." These words encapsulate the essence of who Esther was - a woman of service, compassion, and an unwavering will to help those around her.

Esther found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved going to tag sales, shopping, and had a unique hobby of collecting magnets. Each magnet on her refrigerator and front door tells a story, a testament to her fondness for collecting memories. She was an amazing chef, her dishes were renowned and irreplaceable, a reflection of the time and love she invested in her culinary creations. Esther's dedication to her family was paramount, and their presence always brought her immense joy. Her smart and intuitive nature was a guiding light for her large and loving family. The significance of family in Esther's life is best encapsulated by the words of Desmond Tutu, "You don't choose your family. They are God's gift to you, as you are to them." Esther truly treasured this gift, and her family was the cornerstone of her life.

Esther Maria Correa is survived by her husband, Nicolas Correa, and her children, Marisol Valentin, Luz Correa, Michael Pacheco, Edwin Correa, David Correa, Sonny Correa, Charles Correa, Freddie Correa, and Wanda Moure. She is also survived by her brother, Luis Negron. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bonifacio Negron and Juana Maisonet, brothers Jorge Negron, William Negron, and Rene Negron, and children William Correa, Eddy Correa, and Evelyn Correa.

The viewing for Esther Maria Correa will be held at Puerta Del Cielo Funeral Home, 730 State Street, Springfield, Massachusetts, 01109, on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 7:00 am MDT. The burial will take place later that day at 11:30 am EDT at Oak Grove Cemetery of Springfield Inc., 426 Bay Street, Springfield, Massachusetts, 01109.
