Esther PedevillaAugust 2, 1931 - October 23, 2016SoledadEsther Pedevilla passed away peacefully the afternoon of October 23. 2016 at her home, surrounded by family and friends.Esther was born on August 2, 1931 in Salinas, California to Oswaldo and Onorina Albertoni. Esther and her brothers were raised on the family dairy on Arroyo Seco Road. She attended Greenfield and Soledad Grammar Schools and graduated from Gonzales High School.Esther married Joe Panziera in 1949, and they raised four children on the Panziera Ranch. After many happy years together, Joe passed away in 1974. In 1986, Esther married John Pedevilla, and they enjoyed 30 years as husband and wife traveling and fishing together from Alaska to Baja California.Esther served on many community organizations and activities. Her catholic faith was the foundation of her life and she was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Altar Society, serving as president for many years and a member of Young Ladies Institute #83 at Our Lady of Solitude Catholic Church. She was an avid bowler, enjoying many years of bowling at Soledad Bowl and Valley Center Bowl as well as the many tournaments to which she traveled. She was a member of Valley Guild and volunteered at the Steinbeck House for 30 years. When her children were young, Esther enjoyed being involved with 4-H and PTA. She was also a member of the Swiss American Club and the Hoe and Show Garden Club.Esther is survived by her husband, John; four children, Ron (Lori), Ed (Lois), Allan (Darcy) and Rose Marie (Jeff); as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Clem (Phylis) Albertoni and her sister-in-law, Barbara Albertoni.She was preceded in death by her parents, Oswaldo and Onorina Albertoni, and her brother, Oliver Albertoni.Services will be held at Our Lady of Solitude Catholic Church, 235 Main St, Soledad: Praying of a Holy Rosary on Friday, October 28th at 7 pm and Celebration of the Funeral Mass on Saturday, October 29th at 10 am. Burial will follow at the Soledad Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Solitude Catholic Church Renovation Fund or Valley Guild-Steinbeck House.Arrangements by Woodyard Funeral Home, 395 East St, Soledad (831) 678-9100
