Ethan Michael Mascaro Obituary
Dec 09, 1992 - Jan 30, 2017
This obituary is administered by:
Ethan Michael Mascaro, an extraordinary young man, age 24, passed away suddenly at his residence in Downingtown, PA, on January 30, 2017. Ethan was the firstborn of Julie Mascaro Lick, and also the first grandson of Louis J. Mascaro, one of the owners of the local waste service company; J. P. Mascaro & Sons. Ethan also had the privilege of being the first of The Fourth Generation Mascaro legacy. His loving parents, Julie and Warren Lick raised Ethan at their family home in Royersford, PA. Ethan resided with his brother and sister, Maxwell Louis Mascaro and Sophia Ariana Mascaro, who happened to be his best friends. Ethan was born on December 8, 1992 and developed normally until about the age of three, when he was diagnosed with Landau-Kleffner Syndrome, a rare form of childhood epilepsy, which causes seizures, regression and developmental delays. Despite being diagnosed with LKS, Ethan’s spirit remained positive and happy. Throughout his life, Ethan displayed extraordinary resilience in facing various challenges, not only physical, but mental as well. In order to maximize his abilities and enjoy his life to the greatest extent, at the age of nine, Ethan was enrolled in the residential treatment program at the Devereux Foundation. Ethan loved his days at Devereux, his “home away from home.” There is a special place in the Mascaro Family’s heart for everyone at The Devereux Foundation. We thank all of the warm and caring people there, too numerous to mention, who provided Ethan with love and dignity, not only in this life but also in his death. To many, Ethan’s life would seem too short. But those Ethan touched, understood that the quality of one’s life far exceeds the quantity of time spent on this Earth. He taught us all immeasurable lessons in compassion and that the simplest things in life can bring you the most joy. Ethan loved life. He loved his big yellow therapy ball, Disney movies, colored pencils and crayons, long car rides with pop-pop Lou, and laughing with his sister Sophia. He also loved Christmas and most of all, Christmas carols. Not to mention his Brothers’ wonderful singing ability. During the weekends, you could always hear the sounds of the holidays coming from Ethan’s room. Even though it might have been the middle of July; that was Ethan. He simply loved and enjoyed life to the fullest. Ethan will be greatly missed. Our family looks forward to the day when we will meet again together in Heaven. Ethan was preceded in death by his uncle, Christopher Michael Mascaro, his great aunt, Rose Marie (Mascaro) Venditti, his great uncle, Francesco Anthony Mascaro, by his maternal great-grandparents Frank Kenneth Clark and Marie Katherine (Moser) Clark and also by his paternal great grandparents Ida and Joseph Mascaro. Ethan is survived by his mother Julie Ann (Mascaro) Lick and stepfather, Warren Albert Lick, his sister Sophia Ariana Mascaro, his brother Maxwell Louis Mascaro, uncle, Matthew Joseph Mascaro, of Limerick, PA, his aunt, Lisa Luanne Mascaro of Limerick, PA, his maternal grandmother, Donna Kay Clark Mascaro, of Sanatoga, PA, his maternal grandfather, Louis John Mascaro, of Telford, PA and Louis’ long-time companion, Patricia Bright. Ethan is also survived by numerous Mascaro and Clark aunts, uncles, and cousins. The Mascaro family will receive relatives and friends at Boyd-Horrox-Givnish of East Norriton, 200 West Germantown Pike, 610-277-7000 on Tuesday February 7, from 6 to 8 PM and on Wednesday from 9 to 10:50 AM. His funeral service will begin at 11 AM at the funeral home officiated by Pastor Joseph DiCandilo. Interment will be at Augustus Lutheran Cemetery in Trappe. In lieux of flowers, donations in Ethan’s name can be made to The Devereux Foundation, 444 Devereux Drive, Villanova, PA 19085.
