With profound love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Ethelyn Elaine Dennison, who passed away peacefully after a lifetime of faith, devotion, creativity, and quiet strength. Born in Bloomington, Illinois, on July 21, 1946, Elaine was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend whose presence blessed all who knew her.
Elaine was the daughter of Mary Joyce Bailey and Francis Marimon Green and was lovingly named after her Aunt Ethelyn. Her early life was filled with resilience and joy, shaped by her parents’ wartime service and later by her stepfather, Henry “Pinky” Pinckard, who adopted her and became a true father in every sense.
She shared a lively childhood with her sisters Linda Jean Hume and Kim Beer—memories filled with drive-in movies, playful tumbling, and simple traditions that laid the foundation for the family she would later build herself.
Elaine married Harold Dennison in 1966, and their life together was filled with love, laughter, swing dancing, and shared faith. Together they raised four children: Shawn (Josephine), Judy (Kent) Kammeyer, Emily (Ryan) Cushman, and the late Henry Dennison, whom she now joins in eternal peace. She was a loving grandmother and a beloved sister, aunt, and friend.
A lifelong disciple of Jesus Christ, Elaine lived her faith every day—with kindness, grace, and an open heart. Whether attending temple worship, helping with genealogy, or offering a heartfelt testimony—even to strangers at the door—she was never shy about her devotion. She and Harold fulfilled a cherished dream by serving a Church History mission together in Salt Lake City.
Elaine had a gentle, creative soul. She sewed beautiful clothes for her children, supported them in music and school, and found beauty in the small things—like a perfect seam, a cold glass of Dr Pepper, or an evening drive through the desert. Her humor, humility, and soft touch left a lasting mark on everyone who knew her.
In her final years, Elaine was lovingly cared for by her son Shawn and daughter-in-law Josephine, with frequent visits from her daughters Judy and Emily. Her children remember her as the gentle parent—the safe place, the soft hand, the quiet strength in the background of every memory.
Though she endured many physical and emotional challenges in her later years, Elaine never lost her light. Her quirks—like brushing her teeth all day or offering lipstick advice—became beloved symbols of her vibrant, enduring spirit.
Elaine has been reunited with her son Henry and her beloved husband Harold. She often said they were preparing a place for her in heaven. Now, at last, she is home.
We invite you to share your memories, photos, and messages below as we celebrate the life of a remarkable woman. Your words, your love, and your stories will help carry her spirit forward.
With love,
Shawn, Judy, and Emily
