Eugene R. BowmanApril 30, 1925 - May 31, 2015Eugene 'Gene' Bowman passed away peacefully at his home on May 31, 2015 of natural causes. Gene was born on April 30th, 1925 to Fred and Mattie Bowman in Bruning, Nebraska. He was raised and educated in George, Iowa; moving with his family to Idaho in November 1941. Gene found work on local farms for a short time before going to work for the Union Pacific Fruit Express (PFE) Shops in February 1942. He joined the Army in 1943, served at various Pacific locations during the war, and was honorably discharged in 1946. Upon returning home, he went back to work for the Union Pacific and worked there until he retired in 1977. Gene married Hazel Wiedeman in 1948 and to this union three children were born. They were later divorced. In 1976, Gene met and married his soul mate for almost forty years, Evelyn Carbine. Together they toured the entire country and spent winters in Yuma, Arizona. Gene enjoyed camping, fishing, dune buggy outings, and especially taking things apart and fixing everything. He was a member of Gem Sprouts, Good Sam Clubs, Railroad clubs, and several dance and card groups. He is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn; his children Jeannette (John Barnet) Bowman, Charlene (Harold) Elg, Von (Suzette) Bowman; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; his brothers Ken (Della) Bowman, Lee (Maxine) Bowman; sisters Marlys Forrey, Marvella (Pete) Aguas, and Sharon (Joe) Harris. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; Loren and Darryl. Gene will be greatly missed by his wife, family and many friends. A viewing and visitation will be held on Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 8, 2015 at The First United Methodist Church, 2717 12th Ave Rd. Nampa. Interment will immediately follow at the Melba Cemetery.
