While surrounded by his loving family, Alfred E. McCants entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 2, 2018 at the age of 59. Born in Hartford on January 20, 1959, Alfred was a son of Ulysses McCants of Windsor and the late Bernice (Johnson) McCants.
He worked as a mechanic at Firestone in Manchester for many years and was a faithful member of Anointed Tabernacle of Jesus Christ in East Hartford. Alfred enjoyed learning about the universe and astronomy and was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching football and basketball, especially the Washington Redskins. He was a humorous man filled with a kind and generous spirit.
Alfred is survived by his devoted wife of 11 years, Pamela McCants of Manchester; four sons, Terrance McCants of Hartford, VaShawn McCants and his wife Sparkle of Hartford, Taki McCants of Hartford, and Jabree McCants formerly of Hartford now stationed at Kessler Air Force Base in Mississippi; two daughters, Kiara McCants-Wilkerson and her husband George of Bloomfield and Sandra Ross-Holmes and her husband Tyrone of Danielson; two sisters, Elaine McCants of East Hartford and Sandra Funnye of Windsor; three grandchildren, Aaliyah Wilkerson, Zahmire McCants, and Jamahl McCants; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
