Eugene Robert Erie, 70, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016, at the Red Wing Health Care Community. He was born on May 4, 1946, in Faribault, to Raymond and Edna (Hoseth) Erie. He attended schools in Cannon Falls and graduated from Wanamingo High School in 1964. On May 8, 1965, he married Susan Hanson, and they later divorced. He worked at Red Wing Shoe Co., the Goodhue County Highway Department, Unique Electronics and IRC. He lived in Oregon and Nebraska for many years before moving back to Red Wing in April of this year. He was a member of the Red Men Club and, in his early years, enjoyed playing horseshoes, hunting, fishing, golfing and horseback riding. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR. Survivors include two sons, Robert (JoAnn) Erie, of Kenyon, and David (Melody Nauman) Erie, of Hager City; three grandchildren, Grace (fiance Forrest Kunkel) Erie, Eric (Elizabeth) Erie and Lucas Erie; four siblings, Ruth Ann (Clifford) Nelson, of Wanamingo, Charles (Martha) Erie, of Vasa, Dianne (Charlie) Dashow, of Dundas, and Joanne (Ronald) Lindholm, of Cannon Falls; and many nieces, nephews and his special friends in Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John and Andrew. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 21, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, with the Rev.
