Eula Mae (Lindsey) Cameron Maurice1926 ~ 2016Eula Mae (Lindsey) Cameron Maurice, age 90, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2016 at home in Boise, Idaho, surrounded by friends and family.Eula is survived by her five children: Lynne Cameron of Skagway, Alaska; Deana (Cameron) Lee and husband Michael Lee, of Nampa, Idaho; Timothy Cameron and his wife, Robin (Hampton), of Council, Idaho; Christine (Cameron) Fudge and her husband, Kenneth Fudge, of Orofino, Idaho; Melodie (Cameron) Turner and her husband, Ben Turner, of Boise, Idaho. She had 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Philip Eugene Cameron, and her second husband, John R. Maurice; and by her parents, William Brownlow Lindsey and Azie Clifford (Sanchez) Lindsey.Eula Mae was born on July 2, 1926 in Welcome, Florida in Alachua County. Her family was an unusual one for the time, having a working mother who was a nurse, and a father who was a preacher and song evangelist during the time of Brush Arbor camp meetings spurred on by the American Holiness Movement. Eula's mother Azie suffered several miscarriages, so her parents delighted in their only child to survive. Eula learned early to read and loved words and music all her life because of her parents' influence. Her father passed away when she was 13 years old, and shortly after, her mother moved them to Nashville, Tennessee so Eula could attend Trevecca Nazarene High School in Nashville Tennessee. While there, Eula Mae joined several singing groups and dedicated her life to ministry, believing she had a call to the medical mission field in China. After graduation in 1943, she and her mother moved so Eula could attend the nursing school at the Samaritan Hospital connected to Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa, Idaho. Her mother, Azie, worked as a nurse and instructor at the Samaritan Hospital at NNC. While in college, Eula was a member of the missions club, several singing groups and choirs, and attended Nampa Northside Church of the Nazarene. She loved vocal music but decided medicine was not her true calling. Due to war and unrest in China, she also decided not to pursue China missions at that time. She met Philip Cameron before he joined the Army Air Corps during World War II. They were married when he returned from duty. They raised five children and spent most of their lives in or near Council, Idaho, where they were faithful members of Council Church of the Nazarene. Eula was known for her beautiful voice. She shared her love of music with her children, involving the whole family in music at church and community events. She was asked to sing at many weddings, funerals, churches, and community events, as was her oldest daughter, Lynne. Eula was a poet and was an active member of the Idaho Writers League. She put her writing and love of photography together later and created greeting cards with her nature photographs, selling them in the local shops around Council and McCall. She bought a printing press and learned the art of offset printing, allowing her to publish small books of her poetry, and to encourage others to publish their works. She printed a short history of the Council Valley, There Was a Council Tree for Orval Schwartz in 1974.In 1977, Philip and Eula moved to Eagle River, Alaska and lived there for 10 years. They moved back to Council in 1987. Philip passed away in 1988. In 1989, Eula Mae married John R. Maurice, a former schoolmate from her Trevecca High School days. They lived in Council, Idaho until his death in 2003. In 2009, Eula moved to Boise, Idaho to be cared for by her daughters.A celebration of Eula Mae's life will be conducted on Monday, December 12 at 5:00 p.m. at Five Mile Church of the Nazarene at 2701 S. Five Mile Road, Boise, Idaho. All are welcome to attend and celebrate her life with the family. Rev. Ben Turner will officiate. A memorial graveside service will be held in Council on a future date yet to be determined.The family would like to thank Complete Care Home Hospice for their excellent care of Eula and her family during her last days.
