Eva Wellman SowersOct. 21, 1918 - Nov. 03, 2016PLYMOUTH - Eva (Wellman) Sowers, age 98 of Plymouth passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center Plymouth campus. Eva was born on October 21, 1918 in Starke County, Indiana to Ira and Edna (Sult) Bickel. Eva has been a lifelong resident of Plymouth; she has lived on the same property for the past 70 years. She was a waitress at Alibi restaurant in La Paz and Mundy's restaurant in Plymouth. Eva enjoyed woodworking, making doll houses, barns, and Halloween and Christmas decorations with her own hands. She also baked beautiful wedding cakes. Eva married Donald Wellman in 1935; he preceded her in passing in 1979. She later married George Sowers in July 23, 1995 and he also preceded her in passing August 31 2013. Eva was a member of the Blissville Church of the Brethren. Eva is survived by her son, Roy and Mary Ann Wellman of Plymouth; her two daughters, Gloria Cruz of Plymouth, Donna and Leroy Hanselman of Knox; also surviving are numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. She is preceded in passing by her two husbands, and several siblings; and her daughter, Marilyn Tribbey. The Van Gilder Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. A funeral service in honor of Eva will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 West Madison Street Plymouth, Indiana 46563 with Pastor Schadek of the Blissville Church of the Brethren officiating. Eva will be laid to rest beside her husband, Donald Wellman in the New Oak Hill Cemetery. A time of visiting with the Wellman-Sowers family will be on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
