DOLLEY SR., EVAN J.DOLLEY EVAN J. Sr. Age 85 of Horseheads, NY passed away on Friday January 20, 2017. Evan was born on October 1, 1931 in Corning, NY the son of the late Benjamin and Helen Stenger Dolley. He graduated from Corning Free Academy High School. Mr. Dolley was a
Veteran serving his country with the U.S. Marine Corp from 1951 - 1954. He married his wife Phyllis Allington Dolley on November 5, 1955 and she pre-deceased him on May 14, 2000 after 44 years of marriage. Evan was a retired pipe fitter for Corning Incorporated where he recently received his 60 year pin. He was a member of the Sullivanville United Methodist Church for more than 60 years and was very involved with numerous activities there, such as Teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, usher, chair member and was a member of the board of directors. Evan was a very gentle man who enjoyed life and treasured the times spent with his family. His sense of humor and wit was evident to anyone he ever met. He was also pre-deceased by his brothers and sisters: Benjamin Jr., William, Francis, Helen Bishop, O. Thomas, Joseph, and Bessie Holmes. Mr. Dolley is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law: Evan "Jerry" and Debbie Dolley Jr. of Italy; Tim Dolley of Horseheads, NY, and Terry Dolley of Horseheads, NY; grandchildren: Anastachia and C.J. Winslow, Amalia Dolley, Cody Dolley, Nicholas Dolley, Evan Dolley III, Brandon Dolley; sister: Emma and Jake West of Savona; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Don Allington, Belva Kittle, AnnaMae and Harold Lauper, and Shirley and George Pribulick; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of caring friends, including his special canine buddy Kozar. Evan's family would like to express their greatest appreciation to Dr. Rodgers and his staff for the excellent care and dedication of time given to him over the years. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY on Friday January 27, 2017 from 5-8 PM, and on Saturday January 28, 2017 from 9AM - 11AM. Mr. Dolley's Funeral Service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 11AM with the Pastor Kevin Austin Officiating. Interment in Scotchtown Cemetery in Erin, NY where Full Military Honors will be accorded Mr. Dolley.
