Evangeline Bell-Mangram was a life long a native of Camp County where she worked to support and to improve her community. She was born on July 20th 1932 to Albert Belle in Pearlie Armour. She joined Rocky Mound C.M.E. church at an early age and later joined St. Beulah C.M.E Church where she held numerous positions and remained a faithful member.
She graduated from Douglas High School and went on to recieve a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics from Texas College and a Master of Education in Library Science from East Texas State University. Her education career began home to Pittsburg ISD where she worked as a Frederick Douglas school teacher and librarian until retirement. She later moved to Los Angeles, Calfornia to be closer to her daughter and primary care giver.
On February 11, 1953 she married James General Mangram. They were blessed with three children: Michael Ray, Carolyn Elaine, Janice Denise. Throughout the years, she and her husband raised their children, held with grandchildren & other family and community members. Their home was always open to family and friends. She loved fishing, boating, working in her yard and growing flowers.
She leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters, Carolyn Mangram-McCray (Fred) of Houston, TX; Janice Mangram-Williams ( David) of Las Angeles, CA; One sister Rosie Dennis-Bradley of Dallas; eight grandchildren; Jill Mangram, LaMarcus McCray, Christian McCray (Tara), Mykela Mangram, Kerry Wilkerson, Tanisha Childress; 18 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
