Evaristo A. Vigil, 81, a longtime resident of Mora passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012 , in Bernalillo, N.M.He was born on Aug. 3, 1931 in Pecos, N.M. to Estevan Vigil and Fedila Lujan Vigil. He served in the united States Army as a PFC from January 1952 to December 1953. He was a loving father, grandfather, great- grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was formerly employed at the Rio Grande Alcoholic Center where he totally devoted his time with his patients, and fellow employees. He enjoyed gathering firewood and going to the casino.A lifetime Catholic , and a member of St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Mora, N.M.He is preceded in death by his parents: Estevan and Fedila Lujan; daughter: Loranie "Lulu" Vigil; brothers: Gilbert Vigil and Tony Vigil; sisters: Erlinda Vigil and Theresa Vigil.He is survived by his son: Paul Vigil and wife Carmen of Bernalillo, NM; daughters: Fran Martinez and husband Pete, and Cindy Vigil both of Mora, and Anita Vigil of Abilene, Texas; grandchildren: William Johnson of Albuquerque, Tito Vigil and wife Mindy of Bernalillo, Rebecca Hohner and husband Thomas of Albuquerque, Antoinette Fresquez and husband Tim of Chacon, April Martinez , and Sarah Martinez both of Mora, and Jessica Marquez and husband Justin of Los Lunas; great-grandchildren: Joshua Pacheco, Andrew Fresquez, Waylon Fresquez, Lilly Hohner, Liam Hohner, Baby Hohner, Justin W. Marquez Amaria Vigil, and Annalis Vigil; mother of his children: Susie R. Vigil of Mora; sisters: Rose Pacheco of Los Alamos, Gloria Muniz and husband Sam of Cleveland; brothers: Felix Vigil of Cleveland, and George Vigil of Los Alamos; sister-in-law: Irene Vigil of Westminster, Colo.; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Rosary services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Mora with the funeral mass following with Father James Sanchez as celebrant. Interment will be at the San Antonio Cemetery in Cleveland with the following serving as casket bearers: William Johnson, Tim Fresquez, Tito Vigil, Justin Marquez, Thomas Hohner, and Steven Vigil. Serving as honorary will be all his remaining grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
