Evelyn Pollard was born to the late Gertrude Douglas and August Pollard on November 5, 1931. She departed this earthly life on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, in Marrero, Louisiana.
She received Christ at an early age at St. Matthews Baptist Church in Sarpy, LA. A devoted member of First Zion Baptist Church for fifty plus years of Shrewsbury, La. Where she served on the Deaconess board.
Evelyn attended Bethune School of Norco, La and later dedicated her time to helping others through her life. She had a passion for the outdoors and found great joy in spending time with her family and serving her church community.
She was proceeded in death by her late husband Joseph Grimes, her mother Gertrude Douglas, her father August Pollard, her grandmother Eliza Gordon, her Grandfather August Miller, her sister Melvina Pollard, her brother Coleman Pollard, her God sister Alma Richner, her niece Celestine Puckett and a devoted friend Lillian Jackson and Minor Williams.
She leaves to cherish her memories her two children Terrance (Louisa) Pollard and Moritha Bronner (Odell) of Shrewsbury, La. Two Grandchildren Tromone (Jakia) Puckett of Gretna, La. Kenishia Puckett (Narrell) of New Orleans, La. Four Great Grandchildren Keirehia Pierce, Tromone Puckett Jr., Kentrell Bridges, and Narielle Bridges. Four God children Samthia Lenox, Quinnin Myles, Jean Smith, and the late Rev. Albert Bailey. Two special nephews Demarkus Puckett and Dalouis "Peter" Williams. A host of nieces and nephews.
Evelyn Pollard will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on through the love and kindness she shared with those around her.
