Evelyn "Bobbie" McKenzie, 82, went to meet her heavenly father on Sunday, April 22, 2018. Bobbie is survived by her three children, Nancy Lunghi (Mark), Michael McKenzie-Chandler (Jason) and Amy McKenzie (Addam); seven grandchildren, Melissa (Chris), Nicolas, Shannon (Romero), Jonathan, Casandra (Frank), Shawn and Savannah; 11 great-grandchildren, Kayla, Devon, Mariah, Maleah, Ivy, Romero, Aeva, Amarie, Elena, Frankie and Mateo and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edna and Andrew Jones; siblings, Polly, Robert, Dolly, Ted, Juanita and Christine; her loving husband of 62 years, Alan, and two of her children, Jeffrey McKenzie and Linda McKenzie.
Bobbie belonged to the United Methodist Church and attended Port Tampa United Methodist for the past twenty years. She was an active member of the congregation and held various leadership roles within the church. Even in times of sorrow and grief, she remained steadfast in her faith and was a true example of living each day as a Christian.
Bobbie was a member of the PTA for several local area schools and the Hillsborough County Council for many years. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, and sewing.
She was affectionately known as "Mom" by more people than she could count. She was a fixture in the South Tampa neighborhood that she lived in for over 50 years. She was always willing to open her doors and her heart to anyone in need. She didn't hesitate to set another place at the table and always made you feel welcomed and special in her home.
Bobbie was a devoted wife and mother. Her generous nature and kind spirit were an inspiration to all who knew her. She adored her children and grandchildren and would excitedly share their stories and pictures with anyone she could! She was the apple of her husband's eye and the two spent every day together until his passing in 2015. Although we'll miss her terribly, there is joy in knowing she's reunited with the love of her life in heaven.
