Evelyn L. "Evy" MorrisCoralvilleEvelyn "Evy" Lee Morris, 85, of Coralville, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Lantern Park Specialty Care. Evy donated her body to The University of Iowa Deeded Body Program and no services are planned. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Iowa City at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the University of Iowa Foundation - Vice President for Student Life Fund. Evy was born on May 30, 1931 in Cumberland, Kentucky, the daughter of Milbourne and Helen (Hughes) Morris. She graduated with her B.A. from Montreat College in North Carolina and M.A. from Syracuse University in New York. Evy was the Dean of Students at Simpson and Luther Colleges. She established the Chemical Dependency Treatment Counselor Training Program at Powell III in Des Moines, responsible for training many substance abuse professionals in Iowa and beyond. Evy was a voracious reader, tackling many biographies and historical books. She loved the Iowa Hawkeyes (and Coach Ferentz) and attended football games at Kinnick Stadium with her sister, Joyce, into her seventies. She loved to travel and enjoyed trips to Edisto Island and the Outer Banks.Evy is survived by her niece, Sarah (Scott) Hansen, grandnephews, Evan and Miles of Iowa City; nephew, Robert Phelps and grandniece, Chloe Phelps of Zearing, IA; Step-daughter, Kay Hill Oberender, grandchildren Jaime Oberender-McClure (Cory) and Zac Oberender (Mitzi), and great grandchildren, Caden Gantenbein, Quinton Oberender, and Piper Oberender.
