Evelyn C. ReedFebruary 28, 1923 - August 12, 2016New HollandEvelyn C. (Colvin) Reed, 93, of New Holland, formerly of Airville, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2016, at Garden Spot Village, where she was a resident since 1996. She was the widow of William N. Reed, who passed away in 2002 after 57 years of marriage.She was born on February 28, 1923, to the late Lester B. and Viola Jane (Thompson) Colvin in Delta, Pa., York County, where she was raised.Evelyn graduated from Lower Chanceford High School and then from Millersville Normal School (now Millersville University) with her BS in Education. She taught school for 39 years, most of them in the Red Lion School District in York County. Evelyn was a member of Pine Grove Presbyterian Church and Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees (PASR). She was a former Brownie leader, former Sunday school teacher, and former financial secretary of her church. Reading, traveling, and spending time in Lewes, Del. were Evelyn's favorite pastimes. She was also an avid rock collector and a Baltimore Orioles fan.Surviving are her daughter, Linda R. Lash (Keith); and son, Donald W. Reed (Deborah); grandchildren, Timothy Lash (Neleinete), Jennifer Miller (Trevor), Karen Lash, M. Patrick Reed (Sarah), Andrew Reed; and 5 great-grandchildren, Katherine Reed, Elizabeth Miller, Olivia, Camilla, and Dylan Lash.A memorial service will be held September 10, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Pine Grove Presbyterian Church, 4316 Delta Rd., Airville, PA 17302 with a light luncheon to follow.
