The ones who love us never really leave us. So it will be for Evelyn E. Williams, the beloved wife of Julian L. Williams, of Crystal River, Florida.Evelyn was born on March 28, 1927, in her grandmother's home in Otter Creek, Florida, to Gene and Nina Harvey. The house had no electricity or indoor plumbing, but Evelyn spent many happy days there. She attended Gainesville High School, and accepted a position with Western Union upon graduation.Evelyn met Julian when he was a student at the University of Florida. Their timeless love soon manifested, and they were married on June 24, 1950. Their enduring love defined them and the three cherished children they eventually welcomed. The children of their sacred union are: Beth Williams of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; Becky Lamb, who lives in Centreville, Virginia, and is married to Gary; and Robert Williams, who lives in Melbourne, Florida, with his wife Barbara.Becky and Gary brought into the world three sons, whom Evelyn deeply cherished. These fine young men are happily married and living in Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. They are: Derick Lamb, who is married to Beth; Sean Lamb, who is married to Alyssa; and Daniel Lamb, who is married to Alejandra. Evelyn's beloved grandchildren are preparing to welcome the next generation of the family with love and joy. With her family, Evelyn lived in Eau Gallie, Florida, Frankfurt, Germany and Fairfax, Virginia. She made a home filled with sunshine, love and laughter wherever she went, and her husband's and children's activities were her joy: U.S. Power Squadron, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and Rainbow Girls. She served as the Worthy Matron of Star of Germany, Chapter #1, Order of the Eastern Star. Upon retiring from the National Science Foundation in Washington, D.C., Evelyn moved with Julian to Crystal River, Florida. Here, she joined Homosassa Springs, Chapter #319, of the Order of the Eastern Star, in which she held the office of Ruth. She was a member of the Fort Cooper Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.Love defined Evelyn. Love for her husband, their children, grandchildren, those great grandchildren yet to be born, and her dear friends. She loved plants and animals – most especially little dogs – and dancing, gardening, and singing while she did laundry.Evelyn gently passed from this life on November 10, 2016, in Lecanto, Florida. Her journey does not end there. Death is merely another path – one we all must take. To mark this transition, friends are invited to join Evelyn's family during a viewing on November 14, 2016, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home, located at 1901 Southeast Highway 19 in Crystal River, Florida. The family celebrates Evelyn's life - rich and well lived - as a wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend who touched the lives of many, and will live on in their collective memories. While flowers are nice - and Evelyn dearly loved them - they're not necessary. Evelyn's family knows that those who knew her will hold her in their hearts. Instead of flowers, today, please take the time to tell those you love how very much they mean to you. Evelyn never failed to do this, and the family's joy will be to continue in that spirit.
