LAURINBURG — Everette "Pate" Norton, 69, passed away on Feb. 12, 2016 at Duke University Medical Center after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday at Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by the Rev. Harry Clark and the Rev. Dwight Dunning. Burial will follow the service at Woodville Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery.
Pate was born on April 14, 1946 in Scotland County, a son of the late Preston and Mary Lee Clark Norton. He was a small engine mechanic. Pate enjoyed sitting at Nic's talking with his friends. He enjoyed going to flea markets on the weekends. Pate loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Wayne Kirby Norton and James Monroe Norton and his sister Mary Norton Wambles.
Pate is survived by his loving wife Bonnie Anderson Norton of the home, stepdaughter Livia White of Laurinburg, brother Tim Norton (Debbie) of Fayetteville, Georgia, sisters Sue Godfrey (Gene) of Hampton, Georgia, Barbara Ann Wilson of Laurinburg, and Jean Locklear (Claude) of Laurinburg, three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends.
Visitation will take place from 1- 3 p.m. on Tuesday at Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel.
