LAUREL HILL — Mr. Everette Reed Hinson, Sr., 89, passed away at Morrison Manor on May 21, 2014.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Friendship Holiness Church officiated by the Rev. Rodney Nichols. Entombment will follow at Scotland Cemetery.
Mr. Hinson was born on Sept. 8, 1924 in Scotland County, son of the late Raeford E. and Nettie Peele Hinson. He was the loving and devoted husband to the late Louise Sweatt Hinson. He retired from Cooper Petroleum Incorporated after 25 years of service. He was a faithful member of the Friendship Holiness Church. He loved being in church and giving candy and treats to all those attending. He also enjoyed crossword puzzles and treasured his time with family and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, Everette was also predeceased by his sons Everette "Dick" Reed Hinson, Jr., James "Jim" Pate, and R.M. Hinson, his daughter Mackie Pate, his brothers David Hinson, Fred Hinson, and Edmond Hinson, and sisters Sally Leviner, Bertha Clark, Maggie Clark, and Sadie Stevens.
He is survived by his daughter Shirley Goodwin and husband Charles of Laurel Hill, daughter-in-law Jane Hinson of Gibson, granddaughter he raised Tabatha Hinson Trussell of Myrtle Beach, S.C., brother Lester Hinson of Steadman, 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews including special niece Jean Hinson Archer and husband Larry of Laurinburg.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
