TOPEKA — Ezra S. Miller, 80, of Topeka, died Sunday, June 7, 2015, at his residence. Mr. Miller was an electrician at Goshen Rubber for 37 years and served as an EMT for Shipshewana for 21 years. In 1997, he was awarded the state EMT of the Year award. He worked at Ace Hardware in Topeka during his retirement. He was a member of Townline Mennonite Church. Mr. Miller was president of the LaGrange County Historical Society for more than 10 years and was the Indiana State Historian of LaGrange County. He was a member of the Shipshewana, Topeka and Anabaptist Historical Societies, LaGrange County Gas and Steam Engine Association and the Goshen Aero Club. He was born on May 28, 1935, in LaGrange, to John U. and Susanna E. (Bontrager) Miller. On Sept. 1, 1955, in Jamesport, Missouri, he married Barbara Mae Miller. She survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Susie Marie (Levi, Jr.) Yoder and Sarah Irene Myers, both of Topeka, and Mary Eileen Miller of LaGrange; two sons, Kenneth Eugene (Linda Jo) Miller and Keith Allen Miller, both of Topeka; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five brothers, Emanuel (Mary) Miller of Bloomfield, Iowa, Amos (Betty) Miller of Goshen, Andy (Brenda) Miller of Sherwood, Arkansas, John (Laura) Miller Jr. of Vermontville, Michigan, and Jonathon (Bridget) Miller of Monroe City. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, Saloma, and two infant brothers, Daniel and Melvin Miller. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today and from 2-4 and 6 8 p.m. Wednesday at Townline Mennonite Church, 2165 S. C.R. 1000W, Shipshewana. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Townline Cemetery, Shipshewana. Memorials are to Gideons International or World Missionary Press. Miller-Stewart Funeral Home in Middlebury is in charge of arrangements.
