This obituary is administered by:
Faye G. MiddletonLake Nacimiento, CAFaye G. Middleton (Nonnie) passed away on November 29, 2016 at the age of 99. She entered heaven peacefully with family at her side.Faye was born on September 26, 1917 in Kansas City, Missouri to parents James and Amanda Scott. She was one of 12 children. Faye spent her youth traveling back and forth through Missouri, Kansas and Arkansas by covered wagon or car, while her father made his living farming other people's land. Faye began school at the age of 5 and was the first of 12 siblings to start high school, although she only attended one year. She began working miscellaneous jobs during her teenage years, from house cleaning to being a nanny to a little boy. In 1937, Faye followed an Uncle out to California where she got her first full time job at a cannery, canning tomatoes. She thought she "never had it so good!" Soon after, she met Johnnie Smith who worked as a milker at Adohr Farms and would become her husband. They loved to square dance together and had 2 sons, Clyde Lee and Neil Scott. In 1942, due to World War II Adohr Farms relocated to Camarillo, CA. where Faye and Johnnie followed suit and established Camarillo as their hometown. Faye began working at Point Mugu, then Camarillo State Hospital. They lived a good life, worked hard and had fun. As life has it, Johnnie was diagnosed with cancer and died 9 months later. Faye was lucky enough to meet Thomas Middleton, one of the sweetest men in town. They married in 1957. They loved to camp, fish, travel, and ended up falling in love with Lake Nacimiento. In 1972, they bought property in Oak Shores and had built a home by 1974. In 1981, with both of them completely retired they were ready to make Lake Nacimiento their permanent home. Faye and Tom spent the next 25+ years investing their time and passion into their community of Oak Shores. She was in charge of countless parties, attended every meeting and took pride in the taking care of the community while volunteering her time. Faye and Tom were very active in their community church, in fact Faye was one of the original members of a Bible study group that ultimately evolved into Oak Shores Christian Fellowship. Oak Shores provided them a place she loved to call home. Faye loved to be out on the water on their pontoon boat or simply in her backyard taking care of her garden. She had a special love for owls and hummingbirds. She created a place her family and countless friends would become easily attached to. Faye's love for Oak Shores and Lake Nacimiento will forever be carried on through her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Faye is preceded in death by her Mother and Father, 10 brothers and sisters, both of her husbands, and her sons Clyde and Neil Smith. She is survived in death by her brother Don Scott of Arkansas, daughter-in-law Vikki Smith of Ventura, grandchildren Johnnie Smith of Lake Nacimiento (wife Brenda), Jason Smith of Camarillo (wife Michelle), Nicole Rea of Ventura (husband Dave) and great grandchildren Brooke Smith, Lukas Rea, and Emily Rea.Funeral Services for Faye will be held on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 11am at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park, 2052 Howard Rd.
