FERN MARION BRINKMEIER, 88 SHANNON - Fern Marion Brinkmeier, 88, of Shannon, passed away Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at the Lena Living Center. Fern was born on March 6, 1925, near Loran; the daughter of Arnold (Tony) and Edna (Katzenberger) Koeller. She attended school at Renner and Clay schools near Pearl City. On May 23, 1943, she married Merle Brinkmeier at Ebenezer UCC Church near Pearl City. Merle passed away on Jan 19, 1981. She worked at Burgess Battery and Villas of Shannon Nursing Home for 17 years. She farmed with her husband for 29 years on a farm, which is now part of Lake Carroll. They moved to Shannon in the early 1970's and they owned and operated the Shannon Laundromat for many years. She was a member of Ebenezer-Salem UCC of Pearl City and the Women's Guild of the church. She enjoyed doing cross-stitching, which her children and grandchildren have many of her treasures. She enjoyed reading and watching soap operas. She loved to dance in her younger years, especially the polka. She enjoyed spending time with her family and going to the grandchildren's sports events. She enjoyed trips to Colorado to visit relatives and going to plays and theater with her sister. Surviving are her children, Julene (Butch) Meinders, Merla (friend, John) Andrews and Robin (Jerry) Erdahl; grandchildren, Curt (Lori) Murphy, Jay (Michelle) Andrews, Paula (Brian) Schoenhard, Shannon (Sean) Shotliff, and Brandon (Fiancée, Brianne) Miles; 5 great-grand-children; 5 step great-grand-children. Preceding her in death were her husband, Merle; her parents; and her sister and brother-in-law, Leona (Chick) VanDelinder. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at the Offenheiser-Schwarz Funeral Home in Pearl City. Services will be at Ebenezer Church of Christ with Rev. Herb Reed officiating on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established in her memory.
