Florence Elizabeth(Restucher) Boland1933-2017Heaven gained another angel when Florence Boland, 83, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 from complications of a stroke. She was peaceful and surrounded by family. Florence was born on August 18, 1933in the family's home on East Government Street in downtown Pensacola. She played in Seville Square and was later involved in founding the Seville Square Childhood Reunion Group. Living near Pensacola Bay she went fishing with her brother and watched the planes fly over from the Naval Air Station. On weekends you could find her and her friends having coke floats at Woolworth's five-and-dime on South Palafox after enjoying a movie at the Saengar Theater. She fell in love with, James Boland, the blue-eyed sailor who rented an upstairs room next door to her house. Together they raised five children. For over thirty years, Mrs. "B" coached basketball, softball, track and field, and taught PE to hundreds of children at St. Michael Catholic School. She believed in good sportsmanlike conduct but had a competitive drive and enjoyed the win. Her love of sports led her to compete for many years in the Senior Olympics. She excelled at basketball free throw, volleyball, darts, horseshoes, bowling and bocche. She was a devout Catholic and a member of the Legion of Mary (they met in the San Carlos Hotel back in the day). She lived her faith through her actions and was dedicated to praying the rosary. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved and cared for everyone she met expecting nothing in return. She was kindhearted and compassionate - loving unconditionally.Florence was preceded in death by her mother and father, Mable Bobe (Schoenstein) Restucher, Joseph Restucher; her husband, James Joseph Boland; brothers, James Schoenstein and Frank Schoenstein. She will be deeply missed by her five children, James Boland (Patti), Charles Boland (Dyna), William Boland, Mary Boland, Jo Anne Oehrle (Scott).
