Florence Gauthreaux-Harvey, a beloved resident of Saint James, Louisiana, bid farewell on January 19, 2024, at the age of 73. Born on July 03, 1950, Florence's life was filled with warmth, love, and an unwavering spirit. She will be remembered for her infectious laughter, her kind heart, and her unwavering dedication to her community. Florence was passionate about her roots and actively worked as a para-professional at the local elementary in her home town. Through her involvement in local projects and community organizations, she made a lasting impact. Her departure leaves a void in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her, but her legacy will endure in the memories she leaves behind.

In her spare time Florence had a passion for shopping. Some might even say she was a professional at that craft. She loved collecting fine pens, purses, and perfume. Her collection of perfume was her pride and joy, along with her children and grandchildren.

Florence is leaving behind three children Erin Harvey-Melancon, Brandon West, and Sheila West. 7 grandchildren, Kyler Melancon, Brayleigh West, Saniyah West , Kaunte West, Faith Melancon, Saniyah Jarvis and London West. And leaves a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents, Ulysses Sr, and Florence Geason Gauthreaux, Husband Micheal Harvey, four brothers, Ulysses Jr., Allen, Robert and Donald Gauthreaux. Two sisters, Roberta Duronslet and Mabel Gauthreaux. Four nephews, Michael Landry, Donald “DC” Gauthreaux, Ronald “Ronnie” Gauthreaux, and Edward Gauthreaux.

Heaven has gained an amazing angel, and through our hearts are heavy, Florence’s Legacy will live on forever in each of us.
