Florita SullivanChesapeake - Florita (Lori) Sullivan, 69, died on the morning of Oct. 27 at a local hospital. Her husband and son were by her side. Lori was born on Nov. 17, 1946, to Francesca Zialcita and Santiago Alvarez, now deceased, in Tanauan, Leyte, Philippines. She was also predeceased by her brothers Santiago, Jr.; and Camilo; and sisters Maria Precentacion and Maria Lourdes. She is survived by her husband, Dan Sullivan III, son Michael Sullivan and his wife, Laurie D. Sullivan, and their two sons, Alex and Caleb. Also surviving are her sister Elena Perez, brother Jesus Zialcita, and several nieces and nephews. Life in post-war Leyte was hard for Lori and her family; and she had to leave school early to help make ends meet. She worked in farm fields, on fishing boats, selling vegetables, and other things. She met and married a career Navy man, and did tours in Okinawa, Virginia, Mary-land, and Panama, settling finally in Chesapeake. Lori was always a stay-at-home mom, and homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing Bingo, and caring for young children, for which she had a special gift In later years, she battled many serious illnesses and earned the respect of many healthcare professionals for her resolve and discipline. In turn, she greatly appreciated their efforts and care. A Mass of the Resurrection will be take place at Prince of Peace Catholic Church on Nov. 17th. Fr. Romeo D. Jazmin will be the celebrant. Burial in the Horton Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk will immediately follow.
