DALLAS, TX - Floyd Mayfield, Jr., 73, passed away on August 25, 2012 in Mesquite, TX. He was born on May 12, 1939 in Alamo, TN. He served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1965. After retiring from the Racine Police Department in 1984, he became a salesman for Bledsoe Dodge of Dallas. Floyd then worked for the city of Mesquite as a MTED driver. Before he passed, he was working as a security guard at the Dallas Meyerson. Floyd was a member of First United Methodist Church of Mesquite. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Opal; son, Mark Mayfield (Jesusita); step daughters, Ruby Gray of Garland, TX, Jewel George (Montique) of Wildwood, Mo, Pamela Wells (Theo) of Arlington, TX; six grandsons; sisters, Floydie M. Stewart (Robert) & Barbara Mayfield (William Whitnall); numerous nieces, nephews and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd, Sr., and Jennie Mayfield; and sister, Cleaster Motton. Funeral services with full military honors will be held Saturday, September 1 at 12:00 pm at Restland Abbey Church. Interment to follow at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas. Visitation will be Friday, August 31, from 6-8 pm at Restland Funeral Home.
