Floyd Compton, 91, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2017. He was born on June 6, 1925, to Claude and Bessie (Jones) Compton in Christian County, Missouri. Floyd lived a full life. He served in the Navy during WW II. After the war, he returned to Clever where he worked on a dairy farm and then drove a milk route. He then worked for Mid Am Dairy until retirement. Since Floyd joined the Navy during his senior year of high school, he wasn't able to graduate with his class. He finally received his high school diploma during a special ceremony with the Clever High School graduating class of 2014.Floyd was a proud life member of VFW Post 3404 and American Legion Post 639. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Doris (Roy) Compton; his son Ronald D. Compton (Carol Scheetz) of Topeka, Kansas; and daughters Connie Compton (Dave Camey) of Springfield, Missouri, and Ann Rauch (Bill) of Billings, Missouri. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Willie Compton and sister, Cleva Middleton.Visitation will be 5:30 to 7:30 P.M., Wednesday, June 7, 2017, in Meadors Funeral Home, Clever, MO. The funeral will be at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, June 8, also in the funeral home. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Union Ridge Cemetery, South of Clever.The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be to Union Ridge Cemetery for the cemetery upkeep.Online condolences may be shared at [email protected]
