Floyd Raleigh Griffin, 77 of Kingston, Oklahoma passed away Friday, October 14, 2016 at his home in Kingston. He was born on January 15, 1939 in Hobbs, New Mexico to Bernerd Owen Griffin and Jewell Sims-Griffin. Floyd was raised in Odessa, Texas where he graduated high school in 1959. He was attending North Texas University, perusing a degree in geology and business management, when he was called on to serve with the United States Army. During his 6 year tenure with the Army he received four purple hearts and became a decorated Army Airborne Ranger. After leaving the Army Floyd finished his coursework and received his degree from UNT. After graduating he worked for Sears as a personnel manager before becoming a very successful real estate broker. He spent his retirement years in Ruidoso, New Mexico, where he began making custom knives and wood carvings, many of which won contests. Floyd attended the Church of Christ, and loved travel, gold prospecting, and anything outdoors.
He is survived by: Mother, Jewell Ellen Griffin, Kingston, OK, Nephew, Carl O. Griffin III and wife, Kayla of Waco, TX, great nephew, Carl Thomas Griffin, Waco, TX and numerous cousins and friends.
Floyd was preceded in death by his Father and his brother Carl.
Visitation will be Wednesday the 19th from 10am to 9pm at the Watts Funeral Home in Madill. Funeral services will be Thursday, October 20th, 2016 at 10am at the Watts Memorial Chapel in Madill. David Hill will officiate the service. Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Oklahoma. Condolences may be sent to wattsfuneralhome.com.
