LAWRENCEBURG Frances Jean Phillips Wright, 90, of Lawrenceburg, passed away on Saturday, October 01, 2016. She was born on October 1, 1926 in West Liberty, KY. Frances Wright previously lived in Lexington, Louisa, Ft. Thomas, Cynthiana, Richmond, and Hazard. She enjoyed spending the winters in Naples, Florida. Frances was proud of being a survivor of 6 different cancers over a 55-year period. She always wanted people with cancer to know she was an example that there was always hope of survival. Frances is a retired Food Service Director and educator from Lawrence County Schools. She previously taught in Silver Grove Schools, Harrison County, Ravine, and Hazard Independent. Frances is also the former owner of Frances Hallmark in Louisa, KY. Frances is a member of Sand Spring Baptist Church, DAR, and was made a Kentucky Colonel under two different governors. Frances enjoyed crocheting hats for cancer patients, sewing, knitting and attending auctions just to hear the auctioneers. Frances is survived by a son Jerry (Jennifer) Wright of Frankfort; and two daughters, Kathryn Wright of Lawrenceburg; and Gina (Helen) Wright of Denton, TX. Two grandchildren: Katelyn Wright of Frankfort and Evan Wright of Lexington and a newborn great granddaughter Addison Grace Connor. A sister Louise Chappell of Lakewood Ranch, Florida; a nephew Ed (Liz) Chappell of Bradenton, Florida; special cousins Charlann (Jim) Wombles and Vivian Combs both from Lexington. Frances is also survived by an "adopted" daughter Sheila (Joe) Kick of Taylor, Michigan. Frances was preceded in death by her mother Mazie Phillips formerly of Hazard and her father William Phillips formerly of West Liberty. She was also preceded in death by her Husband Paul Wright and nephew Steven Eric Chappell formerly of Lexington. Funeral services will be 11pm Wednesday, October 5 at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Dr. Mike Hamrick officiating. Burial will follow in the Bluegrass Memorial Gardens.
