Francis E. Duffy, 69, Manitowoc, died on Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, at the U.W. Hospital in Madison.Francis was born on Dec. 29, 1941, in Manitowoc, son of the late Frank and Mary (Steinbach-Traurig) Duffy. He graduated from Lincoln High School with the Class of 1960. Francis served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Bamberg, Germany. On July 29, 1967, he married Patricia Ahearn at St. Luke Catholic Church in Two Rivers. Francis was employed with Ameritech from 1966 until his retirement in December of 2001. He and Patricia enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and abroad, researching their family histories in Ireland. Francis was a member of Golden K and Past President of the Manitwo Flyers. He loved gardening, and grew beautiful orchids and roses in his greenhouse and yard.Survivors include his wife, Patricia, Manitowoc; one son, Tom Duffy, Two Rivers; two daughters and one son-in-law, Erin and Ethan Granger, Manitowoc; Karrie Duffy, Manitowoc; two grandchildren, Delaney and Ana Granger; special family friend, Jim Vogel, Manitowoc; one sister and two brothers-in-law, Mary Jane and Ken Vogel, Green Bay; Don Paulus, Manitowoc; one sister-in-law, Charlotte Warren, Scottsdale, Ariz.; one brother-in-law, Tom (Jody) Ahearn, Franklin; two sisters-in-law, Mary (Phillip) Rehrauer, Two Rivers; Marge (Don) Zimmer, Two Rivers. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Tom Duffy and Bill Duffy; one sister, Jackie Paulus; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Marie Ahearn; one brother-in-law, Jack Wozniak.Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011, at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dan Felton with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.The family will greet relatives and friends at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, from 5 until 8 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home and will be led by Deacon Alan Boeldt. The visitation will continue at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011, from 9 a.m. until morning prayers at 10:30 a.m. The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors of the TLC unit at the U.W. Hospital in Madison. Especially Kristin and Susan, and Dr. Grossman.
