Francis E. "Gene" Barker, 77, of Coldwater passed away on Monday, October 31, 2016 at Eaton Community Palliative Care in Charlotte.A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The family is being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.Gene was born on April 8, 1939 to Albert and Myrtle (Bauder) Barker in Sturgis. He married Shirley Cole on September 17, 1961 in Bronson, she preceded him in death on December 8, 1999.He was employed as a setup man with Quality Springs in Coldwater for many years, retiring in 2001. He was a member of the Coldwater Eagles Lodge # 1907and the Coldwater American Legion Post # 52. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors and watching western movies.Gene is survived by his children; Dianna Milliman of LaGrange, Indiana, Rick (Becky) Barker of Homosassa, Florida and Patti (Scott) Wojdyla of East Leroy; his grandchildren, Richard (Diane) Barker, Joshua Barker, Jason (Alyse) Milliman, Tai (Adam) McCleary, Jessie (Charley Ansorge) Taylor and Luke (Stacey) Taylor; his great grandchildren, Ayden McCleary, Layla McCleary and Tyson McCleary.
