Frank R. CollinsApril 2, 1919 - October 17, 2014Frank R. Collins, 95, of Mt. Pleasant passed away peacefully on Friday, October 17, 2014, at his home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2014, at Cedar Creek Friends Church, rural Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Don Coffin and Rev. Earl Swigart officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Point Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the church. A memorial has been established in his memory. Frank was born on April 2, 1919, rural Mt. Pleasant, the fifth child of John Harvey & Myrtle Woodson Collins. He was raised on the family farm and graduated from the Mt. Pleasant High School in the class of 1937. Following his graduation he joined the U.S. Navy. In 1941, Frank traveled to Seattle, Washington where he met and married Ruth Claire Robins on April 26, 1942. To this union were born five children: Sara Jane (Lee Grilley); Judith Anne; Wayne Richard; Janet Ruth and David Wesley (Teresa). Ruth preceded him in death on April 4, 1994. On June 29, 1996, Frank married Dorothy L. Smith of Fruitland, Idaho. In 2005, Frank and Dorothy built their retirement home on a two acre plot of the farm where Frank was born. While Frank was in Seattle he worked for the Howard S. Wright Company as a Carpenter & Project Superintendent overseeing projects from Seattle to Montana to upstate Maine and as far south as California. He was the responsible individual in the construction of the Coliseum for the Seattle World's Fair. Frank was also selected to be the Superintendent in the construction of the new world headquarters building for Howard S. Wright. He was a 66 year member of the Carpenter's Local 30, Renton, Washington. Frank is survived by his wife Dorothy, his five children, eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; three step-children, ten step-grandchildren, thirteen step-great grandchildren; one sister June Collins Klopfenstein of Loveland, Colorado and one brother Jackson H. Collins of Des Moines; numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Ruth; three sisters: Helen C.
