January 25, 1934-April 9, 2017Frank D. Martin, Sr. 83, a longtime Sedro-Woolley resident, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, April 9, 2017.Frank was born on January 25, 1934 in Kelso, Washington, the son of Gilbert & Clara (Grose) Martin, Sr. He was raised and attended school in Concrete and graduated from Concrete High School with the class of 1952.In 1954 he was inducted into the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Germany. After his discharge Frank began a long career with Puget Sound Energy, and while working there he met Beverly Bellisle; they were married in Seattle on August 16, 1959 and made their home in Snohomish and King Counties until finally settling in Sedro-Woolley in 1966. Frank retired from PSE in 1994 as a substation inspector after 37 years of service. From 1994 to 2013 he taught Electrical Safety Programs to numerous fire departments, schools and businesses. He was designated as an honorary Volunteer Fireman for the S-WVFD for his teaching electrical safety classes to volunteers. His 'other job' was operating his small farm where he raised cattle and grew vegetables.Frank was also very involved with his community; for over 50 years he (and Bev) were involved with Loggerodeo; they helped organize the Sedro-Woolley Senior Crime Watch Program; he served on the Skagit County Accountability Board for 20 years; was a 30 year member of the American Legion and was a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow recipient for his service.Frank is survived by his children and their spouses, Frank D. 'Dan' & Yvonne Martin, Jr. and Jeanne and Dan McLennan all of Sedro-Woolley; four grandchildren, Teri Haber (William), Michael Martin (Jaimie), Matthew Martin and Rindala McLennan; four great-grandchildren, Ian & Cole Haber and Hunter & Natalyn Martin; a sister-in-law, Ruth Martin; his grand dog, Jetta and numerous extended family members.The Martin family extends a heartfelt thank you to his friend David (pie man); Drs. Stickle and Kojouri; Hospice Nurse Marion; caregivers Suebee and Susan and his friends with the O.F.C.C. at Home Town Café. Memorials are suggested to the Sedro-Woolley Volunteer Fire Dept. or the Boys & Girls Club.A Life Celebration Service with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley with Pastor John Batts officiating.
