Frank DiGvonni Jr. 1926—2016Frank DiGvonni Jr., 90, of Freeport, IL passed away on Sunday September 18, 2016. He was born on February 11, 1926, on the family homestead in Douglas, WY, to Frank, Sr. and Marion (Larson) DiGvonni. He married Mary Lindsay November 20, 1954 in Freeport, IL at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Frank served in the United States Army from September 1946 – June 1947, and then reenlisted and served from January 1952–January 1954. Frank farmed with his wife in the Pecatonica and Dakota area. After retiring from farming in 1974, he began his fence building business which he operated for 32 years, building farm and residential fences for many people in the surrounding counties. Survivors include his son; Michael (Debra) DiGvonni of Dakota, daughter; Ann (Phil) Swalve of Orangeville, 3 grandchildren; Daniel (Traci) DiGvonni of Rockford, Megan (Joe) Kerchner of Dakota, Lindsey Swalve of Freeport, 3 great-grandchildren; Hailey Kerchner of Dakota, Lily Kerchner of Dakota, Louis DiGvonni of Rockford, and great-grandson DiGvonni to be born in December, sister; Janet Stringer of Winnebago, and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary, and brother, Lorin Digvonni. A special thanks to Presence St. Joe's Nursing Home, and FHN Hospice, for their care, and Oakley Courts for their loving care during his time there.Services will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 6 pm, at the Schwarz Park Blvd. Chapel, 608 S. Park Blvd., Freeport, IL, with Reverend Diane Jochum officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the Schwarz Park Blvd. Chapel. Friends are invited to stay for a luncheon following the service in the lower level. A memorial has been established for FHN Hospice and Dakota Opportunities for Education (D.O.E).
