MERIDEN - Frank Dionige Roccapriore, 92, a lifelong resident of Meriden, died on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016 after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Jennie T. Roccapriore.Frank was born on March 2, 1924, son of the late Josephine Amato Roccapriore and Vitaliano Roccapriore. Frank was a veteran of
World War II, serving his country in the Army Signal Air Corps as a radio operator in the Philippines. His children remember him teaching them the Morse code when they were young. After the war, he became an apprentice with a local plumber before starting his successful business, Roccapriore & Sons Plumbing & Heating. He was active in The
Elks Club, where he was an exalted ruler and honorary lifetime member, and The Unison Club. After his retirement, he enjoyed many years of golfing and was a champion pool tournament player. He continued to play setback at the Elks Club on Thursday nights until a few weeks before his death. He was also a member of the "Antique Veterans", performing graveside military services until he was 91 years old.Frank is survived by his six children, James (Jane), Michael (Patty), Joanne (Al), Tom (Jeanine), John/Benjie, and Jan (Terry); nine grandchildren, Brian, Faye, Eric, Alli, Kelly, Kevin, Joseph, Dionige, and Gina; four great-grandchildren, Alex, Nola, Beckett, and Eliana; his siblings, Sr. Marie, Joe, Gerald, Richard, and Vito; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Vic. We will all miss his steadfast, quiet presence in our lives.Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, Nov. 16 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden. Internment with military honors will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery in Cheshire.
