Major Frank E. Smith Major Frank E. Smith, USMC, Retired, 80, husband of Mary Virginia "Ginger" Smith, of Beaufort, SC passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at the Medical University of South Carolina. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 27, 2016 from 5 to 7 pm at Anderson Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at 10 AM at Beaufort National Cemetery with Full Military Honors. He was born on August 13, 1935 in Wallace, West Virginia to the late Fred Logan Smith and Alta Wright Smith. Major Frank Smith served our country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict. Surviving in addition to his wife, Ginger; is one daughter, Lori Murdaugh (Miles) of Beaufort, SC; one brother, Fred Logan Smith, Jr. of Clarksburg, WV; four grandchildren, Andi Fabian, Ashley Murdaugh, Kelsey Murdaugh and Chris Grimm; and three great grandchildren, Alexis, Brandon and Olivia. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Stephen W. Smith; one sister and one brother. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Friends of Caroline Hospice 1110 13th Street Port Royal, SC 29935. Anderson Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family.
