Hill, Frank J. Wyoming - Frank J. Hill, 92, of La Quinta, California, formerly of Wyoming, IL, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, October 26, 2016. Frank was born on November 14, 1923 in Wyoming, IL to Howard and Theolinda (Harrison) Cullen. He married Helen (Lukasch) Chronert in November 1972 in Milwaukee, WI. She preceded him in death along with his son, Frank John Hill (Elaine) of San Mateo, CA and his stepdaughter, Sheri Gore (Bob) of Dunellon, FL. Surviving are his daughter, Cindy Hill Finnie of Port Townsend, WA; his son, Richard Allen Hill (Lori Bessler) of Gurnee, IL; two stepsons, Terry Chronert (Brenda) of Evansville, IL; and Craig Chronert (Bitsy) of Sagle, ID. He was also survived by his grandchildren, Spencer, RJ, Cameron and Brock who loved hearing their grandfather's stories and the nuggets of wisdom that he shared. Frank was a U.S.
Army veteran serving from 1942-1943 and then graduated from the
University of Illinois in 1945 with a degree in business administration. He held senior executive positions throughout his career mainly in the heavy mining equipment area. He traveled all over the world on business. Throughout his career he worked for Outboard Marine, Bucyrus Erie, Marion Power Shovel, Dresser, and WABCO. He was the President of Unit Rig from 1987-1991, and also President of Terex Corporation from 1991 to 1993. Frank enjoyed golf, dancing, playing cards, reading, telling stories and politics. He connected and related to people of all ages. He will be remembered for his good humor, his engaging stories, the smile on his face and the twinkle in his eye. Cremation has been accorded. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2016 at 1:00 PM at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, Princeville, Illinois. Father Steven Bird will officiate. Burial will be at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Cemetery, Princeville. Memorial contributions may be made to the or UCSF Brain Tumor Research Center (
