Frank JohnsonAlexandria: joined his wife Vi in Heaven on august 7, 2017 after injuries sustained from a recent fall at home. Frank was born on May 25, 1934 in a small coal camp in Slagle, WV to Thomas and Ora Bush Johnson. At a young age Frank met the love of his life Vi in a small Baptist church where she was singing Gospel hymns. They were married on Christmas Day in 1953 and moved to the Johnson family farm in Johnstown, later moving to Alexandria area where they spent the rest of their lives together raising their family. Frank worked for Rockwell and then moved on to Western Electric/ATT where he spent many years in a supervisory position and where he would later retire from. Frank dedicated 32 years of his life to the Alexandria volunteer fire dept. as a fireman/emt paramedic and 22 of those years as acting fire chief. Frank was very active in the community and also spent many years with rehabilitating youths through the Licking County court system for Judge Hoover. Frank and Vi both dedicated years to their community of Alexandria and were lifelong residents. Their love for music brought them together many years ago when he heard Vi singing in the church and continued throughout their lives together. Frank and Vi were known as the Rum Creek Duo karaoke entertainers. They would spread their love for music and singing throughout the area and often donating their time to area nursing homes entertaining the patients. Frank was a Mason and just recently earned his 50 year pin. Frank was also known as the Great talking Pumpkin on Halloween. He and Vi with the help of a longtime friend Romeo Deal started this tradition about 50 years ago until recently when the talking pumpkin had to retire due to health reasons. Many children who visited the Great Pumpkin throughout the years brought their kids and grandkids to talk to the Pumpkin every year. Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Vi on March 7 of this year and his son, Frank the year before. He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Barbara Shewak (Richard), Tammi Johnson (James) both of Johnstown; Daughter in law, Linda Johnson; grandchildren, Sean Lopez and Andrew Shewak, Tarin Norris (Clint) Blake Cottrell (Bri) Hanna Garner, Debbie Braun (Jason); great grandchildren, Matthew, Christopher, Ava, Vinny, Rocco and Remington; sister, Lana Johnson Hanlon (Tom) and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family, special friends and neighbors. Frank and VI's ashes will be placed together as one where they shall spend eternity together again as Frank and Vi. The family would also like to acknowledge the "Special Girls" and team of Generations Hospice who showed such love and took great care of Frank and Vi in their final days on Earth. Memorial services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at CROUSE-KAUBER-FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, 225 N. Main St., Johnstown, OH 43031, with Pastor Anthony Payton of Hospice officiating.
