Franklin E. Pollard, 96, of Dayton, Ohio, passed on September 09, 2022. Franklin was born on June. 18 1926.
Ohio - Franklin E. Pollard, a pioneering Black urologist, who as a physician, entrepreneur, and philanthropist was dedicated to the betterment of his community, died peacefully on Sep.09, 2022 at Eastcastle Place where he lived. He was 96.
Dr. Pollard went into private practice in Milwaukee in 1958, becoming medically renown urologist in Wisconsin. The medical establishment that he encountered was a far different one for Black doctors than the one he left behind when he retired 38 years later, a credit to the efforts of Dr. Pollard and others like him.
Dr. Pollard leaves behind his wife of 67 years, Mildred "Micki" (nee Brawner) Pollard. He is survived by his daughters, Karol J.(Fletcher) Roberts, of Baltimore; Emily F.(Robert Wilensky) Pollard, of Ardmore, Pa; JoAnne M.(Ronald) Williamson, of Mequon, and a son, Franklin L. Pollard, of Donalsonville, GA.; 7 grandchildren, a great grandson, a nephew, 3 nieces and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Funeral services with military honors will be held on Friday, Sep.23,2022 at 2PM at 20 w First Dayton, OH 45402 Christ Episcopal Church ,"Visitation Friday 12:30PM until time of services at the "Chapel of Chimes."
