Franklin W. Burr, age 90, of Oshkosh, died on Thursday September 7, 2017 at Oakwood Manor. He was born on February 4, 1927 in Oshkosh a son of Guy and Mary Jewett Burr. Frank was the seventh son of a seventh son. On September 11, 1948 he married Patricia Neuman at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Beaver Dam. She preceded him in death on July 18, 2012.Frank served in the U.S. Navy as a proud crew member of the 'USS Never Sail'. After completing his service, Frank returned to Oshkosh State College. Prior to completing his degree, Frank took over the family business, Evans Brothers Grocery. The grocery store was moved to the corner of Merritt and Bowen in Oshkosh and rebuilt as 'Burr's Food King--Friendly Frank's'. Frank served the neighborhood community around Menomonie Park for many years, closing the store in 1985. Frank and Pat raised six children, all of whom worked in the grocery store. He spent most of his spare time supporting his children in their education and extra-curricular activities. When he did have time to relax Frank loved to play cards, an activity he learned to love in the Navy. Frank was a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Parish.He is survived by three sons Dennis(Judy) Burr, Steven(Patty) Burr, Michael(Julie) Burr, three daughters Linda(Dave) Petit, Barbara(Ron) Jaworski, Kathleen(Dave) Peppler, 15 grandchildren Paul Petit, Sabrina Burr, Jeannae Zeutzius, Matthew Burr, Marcella Burr, Jenna Burr, Adam Burr, Patrick Burr, Anna Burr, Morgan Peppler, Lucas Peppler, Rachel Peppler, Ben Jaworski, Vicki Phillips, Dan Jaworski,, five great grandchildren Jenner Zeutzius, Sydney Zeutzius, Jack Phillips, Jordy Phillips, Jackson Burr.He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, six brothers, two sisters, and one grandson.A memorial service for Franklin will be held on Saturday September 16, 2017 at Sacred Heart Church at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will take place at Lake View Memorial Park.A memorial has been established.The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice and the staff at Oakwood Manor.
