This obituary is administered by:
Wiesenhofer, Fred & Maysel Dad, Papa, Fred, Mr. Fred started his journey to heaven after falling while feeding his birds. His life's ending came on September 29, 2017, peacefully listening to the twenty-third Psalm at his home in Somerset, Virginia with his family nearby. Fred was born in Chillicothe, Illinois on August 4, 1921 where he developed his lifelong love of the outdoors and the beauty of nature. Fred left school at the age of 16 to join the United States Navy and serve his country during World War II. He later received his GED. Little did he know what amazing things his future held. Mom, Grandma, Maysel began her heavenly voyage after falling in the early morning hours the day of her beloved Fred's funeral mass. Not wanting to be without him, Maysel quietly passed away at home in Somerset, Virginia on October 4, 2017 with her family by her side encouraging her to "go dance with Dad." She was born on December 3, 1922 in Bolckow, Missouri where she received her education and began her interests in sewing, knitting, cooking, and decorating. Maysel served in the USO during the war, helping the troops as they passed through the Midwest by train.Fred and Maysel met at a USO dance and became inseparable partners for the next 71 years. Together, they lived in Missouri, Arizona, and Virginia. They faithfully served the Lord through their work in churches everywhere they lived. Fred was a successful hair stylist and beauty shop owner with Maysel alongside him as business manager, receptionist, and manicurist. They lovingly raised a family of three children and influenced many others. They were happy to share all they had, including their great love of the outdoors as they traveled, camped, boated, fished, and rode the dune buggy through the Arizona desert. The Wiesenhofers joyfully gave of their time to their children and to their son's "gang of friends." Fred and Maysel loved to party, dance, play cards, and entertain their friends. Their 71 years together were full of love, joy, laughter, caring, and sharing. Theirs was truly a "wonderful life." Now, fondly remembering Fred and Maysel are daughters Terry Clore and husband Bob, Patty and husband Carl Johnson, and son Stephen and fiancé Gloria Pliler; grandchildren David Woodall, Todd Bunger, Cristy Lee and WT, Cathy McKay and Ryan, Katie Hendon and Don, and Hannah Wiesenhofer and Tommy; Bob Clore's children Ginger Clore-Bogan, Lance Clore, and Shannon Clore; and Carl Johnson's children Alison Lineweaver and Darrin, Suzanne Jarrell and Tim, and Bo Johnson and Abby. Also, included in the family are 23 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. The Wiesenhofers were preceded in death by their granddaughter Shauna Woodall, Fred's parents Carl and Mary Wiesenhofer, Fred's 15 brothers and sisters, Maysel's parents Thomas and Minnie Hughs, and Maysel's two brothers. Maysel is survived by her sister Deava Brewer and husband John of St Joseph, Missouri. The Wiesenhofer family wishes to thank Orange County Barboursville EMS, Martha Jefferson Hospital 2nd floor staff, Hospice of the Piedmont, Preddy Funeral Home, St Isadore Catholic Church, Father Terry Staples, and a very special thanks to Deacon Tom Fursman and his wife Jackie for all their help and emotional support. Any donations in memory of Fred and Maysel may be directed to Orange County Fire and EMS care of April Foster at P.O. Box 111 West Main St. Orange, Virginia. 22960. Fred's funeral mass was held at St Isadore Catholic Church on September 30, 2017. Maysel's funeral mass was held on October 13, 2017 with interment for both on October 13, 2017 at the Culpeper National Cemetery with military honors. The family wants to thank everyone for their kindness, thoughts, and prayers and for respecting Fred and Maysel's request for their services to be private.
