FRED DAVIS

GOMER — Fred C. Davis, 88, of Gomer, passed away at 10:15 PM on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home.

He was born on April 21, 1928 in Lima to Francis and Velma (Hunt) Davis, who both preceded him in death. On June 15, 1957, he married Shirley Sheldon, who survives in Gomer.

Fred was a member of Gomer Congregational Church. He was the owner of Davis Company Realtors. He attended the University of Findlay and The Ohio State University. He proudly served his country as a member of the US Army. Fred was a member of the Psi Capa Sigma Fraternity, The West Central Ohio Association of Realtors, where he was a past president, the National Association of Realtors, Elks Lodge #54, Lima, American Legion #96, the Welsh Society of Northwest Ohio, the Lima Shrine Club, #214 F & AM, Delphos and The Scottish Rite.

Surviving are his brothers Bill Williams of Elida and Roger Williams; his sister Carol Recker of Lima; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son Fred "Ren" Davis II; his brothers Paul Davis and John Williams; his sister Marilyn Robey; his sister-in-law Donna Williams.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, February 3, 2017 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Pike Run Cemetery, Gomer, with Rev. Brian Knoderer officiating.

Military graveside services will be conducted by VFW Post 1275 and members of the US Army.

A luncheon will follow the services.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Gomer Congregational Church.
