Fred E. DrewDes MoinesFred E. Drew passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Mercy Hospital surrounded by his family's love. Fred was born on May 16, 1927 in Creston, Iowa to George and Helen (Veitch) Drew. Fred married Jean Marie Rhinesmith in 1951 in New Jersey. Together they were blessed with five children. Fred proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII and reenlisted following the war for another three years. He worked for over 25 years at Lennox Industries and for the United States Postal Service for an additional 25 years, formally retired in 2000.Fred was a member of Ft. Des Moines United Methodist Church and was an active member of the Men's Club, helping with the BBQ at their annual Fall Harvest event. He enjoyed mowing and doing yardwork.Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Jean; children, Robert (Eleanor) Drew, Paul (Theresa) Drew, Diane Drew, David Drew and Catherine "Cate" (Richard) Barker; grandchildren, Matthew, Maria, Nicholas and Danica; and many other loving family members and special friends.He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Margaret Lamb and Harry Drew.Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Ft. Des Moines United Methodist Church, 6205 SW 9th Street.
