Mr. Fowler, 88, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2017. He was born on March 22, 1929 in Charlotte, the only boy in a family of seven girls. Fred graduated from Charlotte Technical High School in 1948. The majority of Fred's life was spent in Charlotte, NC. He met the love of his life, Georgette, while working briefly in Columbia, SC. He was employed by Gilbert Beauty Supply for almost 30 years as a Sales Manager. His final employer was Columbia Beauty Supply, where he worked for about 18 years. He was a salesman and was able to take the lowest performing territory and make it the most successful in the company. He was adored by his many clients. Fred was active with the Charlotte Striders youth track organization for many years. He had been a member of Saint Patrick's Catholic Church where he ushered for Sunday Mass, and most recently was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church. Fred was an avid sports fan and a walking encyclopedia of sports knowledge. His passion was watching Duke Blue Devils basketball.He was predeceased by his parents, Fred Mark Fowler, Sr. and Bessie N. Fowler. He was also predeceased by sisters, Louise Tomberlin and Sarah Fowler.He is survived by his wife, Georgette Fowler of Charlotte; son, Fred Mark Fowler, III and wife Barbara of Carthage, NC; son, Chris Fowler and wife Alison of Lake Wylie, SC; and daughter, Karen Crews and husband Mark of Charlotte. He is also survived by the two joys of his life, granddaughter, Cameron Crews and grandson, Nick Crews of Charlotte.In addition, Fred is also survived by sisters, Marie McCormick of Winterville, NC, Phyllis Crump of Concord, NC, Sylvia Graham of China Grove, NC, Betty Goodwin of Salisbury, NC and Joy Martin of China Grove, NC. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.The service to honor the life of Fred Fowler will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, November 11, 2017 in the chapel of Harry & Bryant, 500 Providence Rd., Charlotte. The family will receive friends following the service.
