Fredrick "Fred" Howard Utton passed away peacefully at his home on Jan. 4, 2015, in Young Ward, Utah, at the age of 61.Fred is survived by his mother, Viola Stinson Utton of Aztec, New Mexico; wife Lesilie "Ann" Utton of Young Ward, Utah; children, Toni and husband Tim Nelson of Nibley, Utah, and Leslie and husband Corey Spikes of Liberal, Kansas; siblings, Orion J and wife Judy Utton Jr. of Chama, New Mexico, Bill and wife Dana Utton of Las Vegas, Eileen Utton of Cloudcroft, New Mexico, and Tim Utton of Aztec; and eight grandchildren, Payton, Jacob, Breton, Owen, Elizabeth, Raleigh, Cooper, Ezra and one on the way. He is preceded in death by his father, Orion Jesse Utton Sr. of Aztec.Fred was born on Jan. 16, 1953, in Durango, Colorado, to Orion and Viola Utton. He graduated from Aztec High School in 1971 and attended school at New Mexico State University. Throughout these years, Fred was active in 4-H and FFA, raising and showing his own livestock. In 1980, he married Ann Wells. In Aztec, they welcomed two daughters into their home while Fred worked as an appraiser and farmer. With the help of his family, Fred built his dream business of a local produce stand along with greenhouses. In 2005, Fred and Ann moved to Young Ward, Utah, where he furthered his hobby of raising Belgian draft horses, horseback riding and spending time with grandkids. On June 3, 2006, Fred and Ann were sealed in the Logan Temple. Fred is remembered as a loving spouse, father, grandfather and friend who loved the outdoors. He would often go horseback riding with friends and family on the trails of northern Utah. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, in the Young Ward Chapel, 2394 W. 2200 South in College Ward. A viewing will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St. in Logan, and prior to the services from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday at the church. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Fred's life. Burial will be in the Mendon Cemetery.
