Freddie Ellen Ellis Freddie Ellen passed away on September 6, 2017 after a short illness with her family by her side. She was born on January 15, 1935 in Sayre, Oklahoma to Fred and Velta Smith. The family moved to Oregon during the Great Depression and in Banks, Oregon Freddie met Kenneth, her husband of 63 years. Shortly after they were married, Ken enlisted in the Air Force and through his career they had a wonderful life living in various places in the United States and the world raising their family of three daughters, Deborah, Kim and Robin. Ken retired from the Air Force in 1977 and in their retirement, Freddie loved camping in Washington State Parks as well as living as a snowbird down south. She loved to knit and crochet and if you knew Freddie for any length of time you probably have one of her hats or purses. She came to faith later in life and was a devoted member of the McChord Chapel for many years. When they relocated to Patriot's Landing in DuPont, she had a wonderful church family there as well. Freddie loved her friends and for anyone who came in contact with her, they knew they had encountered a kind and loving soul. Her family and friends are fortunate to have experienced her exceptional qualities of being a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She leaves her husband Kenneth, her daughters Kim York and Robin (Doug) Pagel, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. The family is thankful for the compassionate nurses and doctors at St. Clare Hospital who provided excellent care during this difficult time for our family. A Celebration of Life will be held at Mountain View Cemetery on September 14th at 2:00 PM followed by a reception.
