Frederick Albert HallbergFrederick A. Hallberg, 92, died of natural causes on January 28, 2014 in Nampa, Idaho. He was born on March 1, 1921 in Mountain Home, Idaho to Erick F. and Margaret E. Hallberg. Reared and educated in Idaho, Fred lived most of his life here. On January 8, 1941 Fred married Irene Faith Stapleton in Payette, Idaho. They recently celebrated their 74th Wedding Anniversary. Most of his adult life he was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad. He began work there at the age of 20 and retired in 1981. He worked in many position including serving as the General Chairman of the Western Division of the OPRR System Board, covering 17 states with his office in Portland, Oregon.Fred loved people and was active in many organizations (holding various positions in them) including: The Democratic Party, Ida-Div Credit Union, NARUE, Elks, Moose, Jr Old Timers, Genealogical Societies, Owyhee County Historical Society as well as others. He was very instrumental in the establishment and maintenance of the Canyon County Historical Museum where he served in many capacities. He was also a long standing member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.Fred is survived by his wife Faith of Nampa, son Fritz (JoAnne) Hallberg of Fruitland, daughters Faith (Donald) Gabbert of Ft. Worth, Texas and Eddie Rosenbaum of Nampa; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; brother John E. (Carol) Hallberg of Ridgefield, WA; sister Geraldine Evans of Portland, OR and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law William R. and Ruth Hallberg.A memorial celebration of Fred's life will be held on March 1, 2014 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Nampa Civic Center, 311 3rd St. South, Nampa.
