Frederick Henry Michel, Jr.Naples, FLFrederick Henry Michel, Jr, 88, of Naples, peacefully passed away, surrounded by his children on March 15, 2017. Mr. Michel was born on April 7, 1928 in Richmond, VA. He was the son of Frederick Henry Michel, Sr. and Hazel Shackelford. Mr. Michel was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in Richmond, VA; a 1951 B.S. in Business graduate of the College of William and Mary (now VCU School of Business), Williamsburg, VA; and a Second Lieutenant of the Finance Corps of the United States Army. He was a Sales Supervisor at The Crane Company, Chicago, IL; Director of Marketing at Black and Decker, Towson, MD; and Vice President of Marketing at McGraw-Edison Company (Toastmaster, Inc.), Columbia, MO.An amazing person – always happy; always kind; always concerned about you and, in addition, the most generous. Everyone that knew him would say that he was well liked and respected by all. Mr. Michel was very devoted to his family and to his church. He was very active at St. Mary's Episcopal Church volunteering in various activities, including the finance committee.He was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis W. Michel of 64 years. Survived by his beloved children, Frederick Henry Michel III and wife Robin of Shaker Heights, OH, Mark D. Michel of Nashville, TN, and Mary Lynn Michel of Orlando, FL; and three cherished grandchildren, Nicholas Michel, Chanen Michel, and Cody Michel.A memorial will be held Saturday, May 13, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Vi at Bentley Village in the Palmetto Room (East Clubhouse).A graduate of the VCU School of Business, Mr. Michel established the Mr. and Mrs. Michel Merit Scholarship in 2000. Each year, this scholarship is awarded to a first-year student planning to major in business. At the request of the family and to continue Mr. Michel's legacy, donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Michel Merit Scholarship, VCU School of Business Foundation, P.O.
